School shootings have become a tragic reality in today’s American society, representing every parent’s and educator’s worst nightmare. No child or teacher should have to fear for their safety or life while on school property. The history of these horrific events includes the Columbine High School shooting in 1999, where 12 students and 1 educator were killed, and the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary shooting in Newtown, CT, where 20 innocent 1st grade children and 6 adult educators lost their lives. In 2018, the deadliest high school shooting in U.S. history occurred at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL, where 14 students and 3 staff members were brutally murdered. Most recently, on September 4th at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, 2 students and 2 teachers were the victims of gunfire. After the tragic 2018 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, the state of Florida passed the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act (SB 7030). This statute mandates that every school in Florida (K-12) must have at least one-armed Safe School Officer (SSO) or School Resource Officer on site during instructional hours. The presence of an SSO serves as a deterrent to potential assailants and ensures an immediate response in the event of an active shooter. Studies show that the swift intervention of an SSO can significantly reduce the duration of an active shooter event, thus limiting the number of casualties.

Originally focused on customized security solutions for commercial businesses, homeowner associations, worship facilities, and government properties, Dynamic Integrated Security shifted its focus five years ago. In 2018, we developed a specific division that specializes in Safe School protection.
Today, we have over 145 Safe School Officers, including Certified Supervisors, Department Managers, Training Instructors, and Weapons & Ammunition detecting K-9 teams—known as "School Guardians." Dynamic Integrated Security is now the largest company specializing in school safety across Florida. We are contracted with 113 schools across multiple districts, including Charter School USA, Imagine Schools, Renaissance Schools, Classical Academies, Montessori Schools, and The Consortium of Independent Charter Schools, servicing both public and charter schools in Florida, North Carolina, and soon expanding to South Carolina and Louisiana.
Our state-of-the-art command center, staffed by highly trained professionals, allows us to monitor and respond to incidents in real-time, ensuring the safety of your facilities and personnel. We utilize advanced surveillance systems, real-time reporting tools, and integrated communication platforms to exceed the security expectations of our clients. Beyond the standard state requirements for SSOs in North Carolina (HR 218, NC Private Protective Services Board Armed/Unarmed Guard), Dynamic’s SSOs must undergo psychological and full-panel drug screenings. In today’s world, where school shootings are a grim reality, our highly trained, vigilant, and dedicated SSOs are not just a precautionary measure but a critical lifeline. They can make the difference between life and death for countless students and staff.
Dynamic’s SSOs go beyond responding to immediate threats. They vigilantly assess potential future dangers, monitoring morning drop-offs for suspicious behavior, checking to ensure classroom doors are locked, and maintaining an active presence during school breaks and recess. They ensure their presence is felt without being predictable. In addition to their security duties, our SSOs foster trust within the school community, mentoring students and becoming familiar with their personalities—allowing them to identify potential risks or behavioral concerns early on. The reliable, swift response of our SSOs in the face of direct danger, combined with their training in prevention, underlines their indispensable value in safeguarding our children, educators, and staff. No educational institution, public or private, regardless of grade level or location, is guaranteed to be exempt from this threat of violence.
